I wanted to share that I am in my first job as ui/ux expert and I am the only ux/ui person in the team. I am expected to take care of entire research and design of the product. It becomes very overwhelming as the product that I am working on is in a early phase and I am expected to think about ui as well as ux and also design entire app on my own.There is no user interview or user testing happening as my project manager thinks it can be done after product is launched. It’s a myth that renting is “throwing money away.” Maintenance of a property is expensive! I’m selling my place and I’ve never felt more free. I can use that money (~$5000/month) to invest even more.

Planning on buying a house with MIL. She would lend us half the price of home interest free in return for being able to live in it rent free. We’d have 100% ownership. Repayment only required if we sell the home.

She would maintain the place 100%. We would cover races and insurance.
Relationship aside, does it sound like a fair deal?

I thought the answer is yes but now double checking. Can we write off the interest we pay on our primary residence mortgage?

Thoughts on buying pre-construction homes in markets that are popping and flipping selling them when construction is complete?

My uncle does this (he’s a realtor) and usually gets 2-3x return. Obviously there is huge risk because property prices can change a lot in 1-2 years, but at the same time the upside is hard to ignore.

Anyway I protect myself against the downside risk? (other than loosing my down payment)

For people who recently refinanced, bought or is in the process of buying a new home, what APR did you get?

How did you decide where to live? Have a young family, working remote, and currently living in a city. Looking to move to the suburbs but a bit overwhelmed with the number of options. Also struggling since we don’t live close to family and don’t like the areas family members currently live in.

From a financial standpoint in this market, which would be a better approach in Austin -

1. Buy a ~8-850k house that meets most of our ideal criteria (size, schools, interiors etc) to stay long term

2. Buy a ~5-550k house that’s not ideal with the plan of moving into an ideal home in 4-5 years when kid is ready for school.

How easy is it to get a mortgage for the second home?

I’m thinking about selling my condo (I had 3.25%) but my realtor said that the rates are so high now that if I were to buy a similarly priced place, the monthly payment would be like $800 more. Due to a family situation we are looking to move to a different state. Normally we would sell our current home and buy a new home in our new location. However, with todays prices and interest, will it make more sense to rent out our current home and rent a home ourselves vs. selling and buying immediately when we move? We are moving from Vegas to Sacramento and we are not sure how long we would stay in the new area. Thoughts?
