It's a core business services (internal) position. On the external side, we have standard staff - senior - mgr - sr. mgr - pped.
It's actually assistant to the director
Internal, the ranks are: assoc -> senior associate -> supervising assoc -> asst director -> associate director -> director. The most analogous to Sr manager is associate director. Assistant director is considered rank equivalent to manager although internal folks are required to have a great deal more experience (years) to reach that level.
I haven't heard of an assistant director but I think it's the senior manager position
And to tie everything together, client-facing Sr Mgr = CBS Asst Dir
