Fellow female bosses, what impact has an MBA had on your career? I’ve been feeling a tug to get an MBA to continue to climb into more senior roles. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I was a psych major undergrad so (at a high level) my MBA gave me more understanding and perspective on the intricacies required for a business to run.. and be successful.

Networking is another huge value.

If the company can pay for it, go for it. It helps understand the finance, and upper business processes.

You don’t need to spend 100k on this degree. There are great programs out there for much less (and your company might already have a partnership)

I have multiple masters and really haven’t seen the ladder climb or increase in pay over my peers. But I’m sure my degree opened the door for the job I’m in right now.

Don’t go into debt for one. If someone else will pay for it go ahead. Degrees aren’t providing the ROI like they used to. I’m shocked how many T5 MBA grads I’ve seen looking on Fishbowl for referrals.

I felt the same way, but working for a Fortune 100 company, I honestly regret it. I've seen very little difference in career opportunities or promotions. Most VPs and high level execs do not have a MBA. Some go back and get it after acquiring the position but very few have it I advance if ever. Networking is the key.

It helped me after about 3yrs working as an engineer to be able to pivot to leadership and land even better roles. I went to an inexpensive part time program at a state school and my company at the time paid for it. I felt it was valuable timing for me as I still had a fair amount of personal time available, but I had been at my company enough to learn and participate in broader discussions. It also helped a ton connecting to other local business people in the city metro area because my company was about an hour outside of the city.

I should add that my previous company had let me know that they were making it a requirement for future c-suite leaders and wanted to make sure I was included as a potential talent to develop.

I have my MBA, I appreciate what I learned. I make less money now than I did before I got my MBA. Don’t do it unless your company pays for it. I wish someone would have told me that.

At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I believe I'm on track to promotion in the next year. So, I could put in a year of full time school to check the box off, but I'd be sacrificing hobbies and social life (not to mention cost). Is this FOMO or is there real opportunity here?

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

I'm currently in a BDR role but have been studying for my PSM and getting ready to take that test soon. Does anyone have any advice for how to pivot from sales to being a Scrum Master? It seems everyone wants a SM to have 3 to 5 plus experience to even look at your resume.

I’ve been in my current role for almost 4 years. While I am generally happy, & have flexibility with time off for personal matters, there are things that bother me. Hi fishes,

The rumors about PwC KSDC changing the bonus/hike payout cycle from July to an earlier month between March and June are picking pace. If there is any senior staff, or member with credible information on this, please share your 2 cents. The suspense is killing me, and I am sure many of you echo my sentiments here.

So far, I have heard:
- March
- May
- June
- July but with salary effective from April (paid as arrears in July). Something similar for June as well.
