Strategy& fish - i’m currently recruiting for org strategy. Ive talked to associates (in the healthcare practice) and theyve mentioned that it doesnt matter whether youre in corp strategy, org strategy, etc and that you’re pretty much pooled by industry when it comes to staffing.
Can someone confirm this? Also, what do you expect the restructuring to look like?

My interview with the GM was very casual.. it was a conversation back and forth but the onus was definitely on me to lead it with questions I wanted to ask him, aside from a few introductory questions he asked me about myself.
If you’ve made it this far, this is more of a courtesy than anything, a final “are you a good fit personality” than anything.
Good luck!
Signing bonus is very rare. I made sure I got a 30% salary bump to keep myself competitive for a few years, but your YoY increase is definitely going to take a dive
Overall thoughts having re-read all your responses.
If I were sitting in their shoes, I’d probably offer about 125k. DC pays less than NYC as does federal....you’ll have more earning power and work less hours than your counterparts making 155k in commercial practice in very expensive cities.
The 130-140k range you mentioned is probably a good starting point, I’d caution though on pushing too hard on this range if they come below. At my suggested number you are looking at least a 25% raise while also obtaining better WLB which you mentioned as a priority...accomplishing two big things with one move. Holding out for 35%+ might risk you staying below six figs as Slalom isn’t known for industry leading comp.
Signing bonuses of those I know at Slalom are rare, particularly at the manager or below level. Slalom makes a compelling pitch to many experienced hires at big 4 with the benefits being WLB related vs. comp.
Best of luck- I please don’t take my caution as disbelief in your success.
Missed that thanks- thought it was fed to fed.
At SCish level thats a 10k difference I’d say, bringing right to that 135kish mark of you are going fed to commercial. Didnt know slalom had a dc based commercial business tbh
What level? Each office varies. I’d expect it to be behavioral and focused on delivering outcomes that clients ❤️.
Slalom was a good stepping stone for me. Learned a ton, slept in my own bed, but sadly the lack of structure and promotion pathways kept me from staying very long. It’s not bad, it’s just different. As long as you negotiate EXACTLY what you want, fine. But know, no matter what they promise, raises are dismal and what you take in the offer title and all...will probably stay the same for awhile. Oh and...if your project is 50 miles away don’t expect mileage, which is ridiculous in my opinion.
How’d it go?
SM1 is talking nonsense. No ones been let go yet because of all this.
Also, the recruiter mentioned having a discussion around salary and timeline expectations but didn’t communicate that in the email about the final round with the GM. Should I bring it up and have that discussion prior to meeting the GM or after?
Why would you go to Slalom from Deloitte
Thanks all - these are good insights. I’ll definitely look to receive as much as possible while not being disrespectful. I had initially answered the recruiter’s question with questions myself regarding signing bonus and yearly raises. It provided good leverage for me to then say with all things considered my range is what it is. Hopefully it works out.
Hey OP, just came across your post and I too am interviewing for Slalom. Any update? Did you take the offer?
A1 did you take the job with Slalom?
