Finally leaving my position at a nonprofit in DC and I didn’t think I would be so excited. The office has been closed to clients since the pandemic, but the ED decided that we HAVE to start coming in to the office for some reason, and had a stern talk to me that I need to be in at 10AM ON THE DOT, even if I work through lunch and take calls on the weekends. Started looking for a job the day of, and found one that is flexible and pays $15k more. Now why would I even stay?

YoE 12.5, cctc 10.5 and holding offers till 23.5 fixed and few more in pipeline, expecting till 27 with 40 days left in np. I’ve practiced litigation in DC for about 5+ years at a larger plaintiffs’ firm, and am considering a switch to a defense firm. Is there any insight to how many billable hours this would require, and how much time that would actually be? My friend is a 4th year public defender in NYC. T14 grad and easily one of the smartest, most capable attorneys and professionals I know.
