First world problem. What (if anything) do you do to help a child who is a top-performer at school? Don’t want to make a big deal, and leaning towards not doing anything at all, but he’s in 3rd grade and performing at/near like the 100th percentile in both math and language arts in the state (Texas). We don’t want to make him hate learning (e.g., by pressuring him too much) but also don’t want to miss out on helping him develop his education at a level/pace that challenges him in a healthy way.

My parents got divorced 6 years ago and my dad kinda gave up on life. His American dream was to graduate with an actuary degree (which he did 2 years ago) and find a corporate job but it never happened...He gave up on life to a point that has no food and is behind rent because he doesn't want to get a $15 an hour job or a maintenance/painting job. I feel like a failure as a parent at times - my youngest daughter is extremely anxious about middle school and in the first week has already had two emotional breakdowns. She is so worried about people picking on her and not having friends. I have reached out to the counselor and principal with hopes to get her some support in school, but I can’t do anything to make it better. When I was hired, I don't recall being informed about my salary being tied to my location. My employment contract also only makes one mention of location, and says "home office" and my state. I was recently told by HR though that if I move, my comp. will be lower. Is this legal? Should I consult a labor lawyer?

In my mind, I don't recall being told this and it's not clear from my employment contract, so I feel like they're breaking our agreement, and it feels unfair.
