Florida CPA here with a question regarding CPA license renewal. I passed my tests sometime in February 2019 but didn’t get the official license until January 2020. What dates should I use for counting my CPEs towards the renewal?

I just recently joined a company (a month in) and I’m realizing that I may not be a good fit. Should I, at least, give it a chance or start looking for a new role?

I’m interested in becoming a product manager but I don’t think I have the right background. My background is in enablement/product training/L&D. I don’t have a technical background. I work closely with the PMs at my current company and would love to get to do what they do. Is it possible to be a product manager without a technical background? Are there any certification type programs that could boost my credentials and employers would actually care about? Or is this transition a pipe dream?

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

When did you decide to get medicated? I have what I’d call “high functioning” depression and anxiety. See a therapist and all, but still deal with lows that seem hard to overcome for weeks on end - losing interest, hard to focus on work, sleeping difficulties, etc. Hard to tell when to make that decision!

Would it be terrible of me to quit during my rotation’s busy season? I got put on a mandatory rotation this summer (PwC is big on pulling resources especially now) but I’m really ready to get out. They stress being a “team player” and I have a feeling they will use this against me when I try to quit.

Is the CFE pretty easy?

For those who moved from a client serving role to an internal role in public accounting while at a fairly high level (experienced manager or senior manager), did you take a pay cut or does your pay stay flat when you transition with minimal increases in subsequent years? Also what role are you in now? I really like EY and the company. I’d like to look at moving to an internal role but I’m worried I’ve priced myself out (currently at around 140k comp in LCOL).

Would you stay living in a city you like but have very few friends there, or move back to your hometown where most of your friends and family are? My current city has a population of about 500k and my hometown is about 100k. My main reason to move away from my hometown was dating and jobs, but neither seem to be going any better over the past 2 years. COL is about 28% higher than my hometown and jobs don’t pay much better.
