6 years agency, 5 years corporate here. It's definitely subjective, but overall, you would be trading away that freedom for the illusion of stability. Brand side means that you're a full time employee with benefits, which is great, but then you're expected to always be on call, which means work/life balance takes a big hit. Depends on the company and group leadership of course, but in my experience, most of the big "more stable" jobs mean that you're expected to always be available to act on any - and I do mean any - whims that fall out of a VP's mouth. Doesn't matter if it's a good idea, you're playing office politics now, even moreso than agency side. My biggest "aha" when changing over is how much gets buffered before getting to an agency, which I would have laughed at if you'd told me before making the switch.
Overall, I would say that if you're happy, fulfilled and able to live comfortably, then it's probably not worth the gamble. If your reason for going brand side is you're trying to max out salary, then be prepared to sell your mind, body and soul to the company in exchange (and maybe get an MBA so you can move up the ladder faster).
There's a lot more I could say, but it's specific to where I work, and even specific to which internal group (example, some groups want to in-house most agency work, but other groups only some or none). Happy to answer questions.
