Hi All!
I am currently a Senior Software Engineer(Backend) with 4 YOE. My current CTC is 21LPA (All Fixed) with additional Yearly bonus. I got a call from Google (Pune/Bangalore/Remote) for Software Engineer - Backend. I have the following doubts but any insights are welcome -
1. Does the lower designation offered make any difference?
2. Kinda ambiguous, but what kind of hike or ballpark pay can I expect?
3. Any similar interviews experiences or focus areas I should prepare for?
Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

(Continued) daily. Never gave up. And then out of the blue it happened. An offer. An Agency. A team. An exciting opportunity. I’m so thankful. Never give up.
Congratulations!!! That’s so awesome!!! Wishing you all the best of luck in this new exciting chapter.
Congratulations. Thanks for sharing your story. Lucky agency. Lucky team to have a leader who will truly appreciate them. And thanks for the reminder to be grateful, even on the rough days.
This ^^^^ 🙌🏻
2 years. That’s rough. Way to stick it out 👊🏼
Congrats! I’d love to hear your POV on the challenges aside from ghosting, lessons learned etc. Do you feel age or art/copy background was a factor in length of search? Might help those in similar position, or those with only a Prius full of awards vs. a whole truckload.
Bingo. I parted ways with a network agency about three years back. They are still trying to decide who they are, something they lost sight of after almost a decade of pursuing pure growth and profits. But I am very grateful to have learned with them, and because of them. Managed to derive a powerful story from my experiences, and career and projects have never been better. Chose to freelance because it turned out to be much more lucrative. Still working with great teams, with the flexibility to travel wherever, whenever I want.
You gotta have your story.
Also, I have an art background but am doing way more strategic and other writing.
Nice to stick it out, but don’t forget about the next creative that’s doing the same thing, needing the same opportunity. You have a leadership role, lead by finding great creatives and giving them their shot too.
Yeah! I am so happy for you. My wish is that this will also happen for so many other talented and nice people that have been let go. I hope everyone finds a nice new home. 👍
Congratulations. Glad the hope is back.
Nice post. Go get em!

Lucky you and lucky them! Congrats and good luck in the new role. Nothing better than a boss who truly appreciates how fortunate we are to do this silly job for money.
Fantastic. I can’t believe you stuck it out for two years!! Congratulations and best of luck on your new gig.
