Mark Ritson made a dumb article about Tik Tok despite saying he would rather “stick his head in a bucket of piss” than use Tik Tok. A strategist who works at Tik Tok read it and called it out for being a dumb bad article (and didn’t even mention his name), agreed with someone else saying it felt like the thing an old white male would write (which, accurate). Mark Ritson got mad, and his fanboys sent death threats to her. Mark Ritson keeps saying her statement was sexist, racist, and ageist, and she hasn’t said much more.
You can call it discrimination or prejudice based off gender, but it's not sexism
Yes, it's Mark Ritson's fan boys DMing death threats to a young woman strategist. Ritson is a blowhard who uses his position as a tenured professor at a business school to drop crude hot takes on anything he doesn't like or understand about modern marketing, from social platforms to brand purpose. And so here we are, in 2020, with a Gamergate-like situation where a bunch of grumpy traditionalists are so affronted about kids making Tik Tok films that they are threatening the life of a young woman. It's pitiful.
Disgusting.
Unrelated. There are so many people I see posting non-stop on twitter. How do they A - get any work done and B - not get in trouble with their employers when there’s clear evidence they spent all day on Twitter?
I just hope she's ok :(
The idea that people are sending death threats because they love Mark Ritson is laughable. If people are sending death threats it's because they are psychologically unhinged and deeply inadequate losers. Not even Mark Ritson's family love him enough to send death threats on his behalf.
Frankly I don't think Ritson did anything wrong. All he did was publicly engage with someone disagreeing with him. The fact this lead to death threats is a sad reflection on the state of the world, but it isn't his fault. It should be ok to disagree with someone on Twitter without worrying that it will lead to death threats for the person you're disagreeing with.
Because of this situation, it's impossible for women to engage critically with men on advertising twitter without worrying about death threats and other abuse, and it's impossible for men to engage critically with women on advertising Twitter. without being being blamed for the monstrous actions of strangers. I think that's a real shame.
Men are seriously so emotionally fragile! Calling women emotional is projection on their parts. 😃
They’ve not been shared. So nobody actually knows.
