No cost of living salary changes for a personal choice
@OP, I relocated for personal reasons and was given both a market adjustment and a raise. Get your BTS person on your side and he/she can advocate for you. If you are going down in terms of market pricing, the firm will not cut your salary; if up, the firm will work with you if you are a high performer and well-connected. Good luck!
If it's for personal relocation you'll get nothing. If it's for business, they should provide you a package.
It's also very hard to move to SF. LA is much easier
Does Deloitte adjust your salary for cost of living? Thinking SF to ATL
No this is theoretical if the company had me relocate from CA to TX, and I'd love to hear some concrete examples if possible.
Speaking from the S&O perspective only - it's easy to transfer as long as there isn't a freeze and you have a network where you're going. They aren't going to give you anything for relocation though nor will they adjust your pay up or down. I've never heard of S&O having anyone relocate and paying for it so I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. Other service areas and advisory could be different.
In S&O (and I think all of consulting) salaries don't vary by geography.
