I got mine early in my career (at 26 yo) and it was helpful at the time. It helped give executive leadership at my company additional confidence in me being the youngest and least experienced PM on the team. It’s also a talking point on my resume or something the occasional recruiter notices but otherwise I don’t think it’s been that helpful. (I also focus my work today on product strategy and management though)
I thought the test was easy, but I spent the whole weekend before my test taking and reviewing practice tests. Which is how I recommend studying because I started to identify patterns on how the questions were worded and what the answer would be.
How was the PMP exam? What course did you use to study?
It's a relatively easy certification and is valued regardless of your focus. Leadership and clients always like to know someone knows how to manage a project or workstream. I studied on my own for a few months and passed on my first attempt.
What did you use to study?
I’d argue a cert like SAFe is a lot more relevant today
