smaller shops (generally) will not have the resources or know how to transfer internationals, deal with visa etc.
I'm from the UK, now living in US. I interviewed last year ... looking to move back to London ... was offered two jobs at 2 networks, but turned both down due to ...
a. less salary (both companies could only offer me ~70-80% of current salary. beware UK salaries are shit)
b. very poor relo costs (most they could offer was 10k... this is due to London agencies believing they don't need to hire internationally as they have enough options already in the city)
just do your research... interview loads to get a sense of monies and jobs ... find which agencies are looking for international talent
I’m thinking of going back too, just really put off by crap salaries. London is expensive.
You could also try to spend a month abroad working on a agency from the same group you’re currently in. Is a good way to meet people and get a sense of the local market (that is very different from the US)
From the US? Do you have a visa? If you need sponsorship you’ll need to move to a shop like AMVBBDO or adam&eveddb. I’ve done London to the US so feel free to message if you’d like any insider info!
