Just got rejected by an opportunity that I was really excited for / aligned perfectly with my interests and skillset. Pretty bummed by it :( How do you all self-motivate after these kind of rejections?

I had series of it, applied to 17, got rejected. Maybe resume wasn't powerful enough.
It sure feels bad, but not to lose hope.
Everything happens for a reason, and my reason is just a search away.

Keep walking my friend, stay positive. 😊

Feel better, keep your head up OP! I've been stressing about interviews/rejections and it takes a toll. I've had to remind myself there will be better opportunities eventually!

Crack a beer, see what’s next in your pipeline, and keep your head up. I spent 6 months interviewing for a variety of roles in both consulting and tech and ended up in a role where I’m compensated very well and I’m super happy. It’ll be worth the struggle.

like

Was it salesforce or twitch? Both rejected me today without interview for roles that I thought were perfect fits

Haha no, neither — but wishing you luck, friend!

Remind yourself all it takes is one yes. It’s a numbers game so you gotta keep applying.

Yeah it’s a volume game... give yourself a day to be bummed then get back at applying, it’s the only way

Hi community, humbly seeking professional HR advice. I recently joined my company’s HR team. In an informal conversation, a senior HRBP, considered a peer, called 2 of our fellow HR colleagues “worthless.” I should have rebuked her then & there but was so caught off guard. This person is 20 years my senior. In the same conversation this person advocated for me on a separate matter & complimented my performance. I am not sure what course of action to take at this time. Distraught & unsure.

I was just talking to a younger friend who goes to Cal and It seems like the kids these days hate FAANG or at least Amazon and Facebook are not desired at all. Curious on whether people are thinking about the ethics of their exit company when deciding to move?

Client recently offered me a job for an open req (industry eq SM). The work is flexible, the req is just to get me in the door but I decide what I want to work on (which I trust to be true). Much better culture, wlb, etc., but I’d be taking a 100k pay cut and be an IC with no team. Is it worth taking a step back in pay and responsibilities, or does it seem possible to get all in one?

4YOE @Amazon & trying to lateral to a similar role @FAANG. Have my undergrad GPA (3.8/4) on resume from top 15 school but colleague says to take it off (looks silly). If it’s a good school & high GPA, why ever take it off your resume? Even if 10 YOE...can’t hurt?

Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.

I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.

Realistically, making to Director is 2-3 years away and will require sacrificing time with my family that I am not prepared to give up.

Should I stay or should I go?
