For those who’ve been working 10+ years, did your definition of “a good job” change in ways you didn’t expect? Early on, I optimized for learning, prestige, momentum. Now stability, autonomy, energy, and lifestyle seem to carry more weight. I sometimes wonder if everyone goes through this shift or if it’s tied to burnout, age, or priorities evolving. What surprised you most about how your preferences changed?

I have a friend who was let go a few months into his first job after college (reason: the manager felt like he wasn't grasping the training content to the level that was expected). He's worried about if he should put the experience on his resume anyway, if he does will recruiters ask why he had such a short time at this place, and what will recruiters think if he explains he was let go. What are some things recruiters expect from candidates in this situation to continue considering them?
