Rising Star
It’s a very personal decision. I know social media allows you to get validated by random people. But for practical purposes, they need to spent a solid amount of time in financial planning. And/or talk to a personal financial advisor.
People take break with far less than that. But it also adds considerable strain to your spouse. So it needs to be a conversation with the spouse and not reddit. Kids are not going to stay forever in elementary schools and their expenses will go up. I don’t know what is this person’s plan for college. “400 K” equity - eh, ok…that doesn’t mean much.
Point being, instead on relying on social media vibe check, they should put some effort into long term financial planning and hire an advisor if needed. I think claiming that they can get a new job in 6 months is very optimistic

I would like advice in return on how they made 2M as a couple at 42 and 39 with 2 young kids.
E2: pretty easy if you work in tech, especially big tech. With the market tearing these past few years post covid, it has generated quite a few millionaires.
