McKinsey AP should be L6 or L7. Check levels.fyi for L6/L7 comp. L5 might be too junior, and L8 might be too senior. I have seen MBB Equity Partners joining as L8 or L7.5
Yes level n for business roles is about level n-1 for eng in terms of comp
Level is generally decided based on YOE and that will basically dictate your TC

What’s AP salary band ?
Have seen many McK APs join at L7 at Amazon. Comp can range from 350-450K in seattle and 450-500K at SF. But this is for MBA grads with some prior work experience. If you are BA--> AP with less than 6YOE, then this might he a stretch since YOE matters a lot at FAANG
