I think in the past that would have been seen as a red flag but in today’s job market people are more understanding. It’s tough out there.
6 months is when some companies start to wonder. For example, if this person is decent, why are they still looking for a job? I explained my pause away as I took the opportunity to go travel and visit friends and then 2 months later - start looking for real. Being that you have been contracting, you’ll be fine.
6 month is totally fine nowadays. I was unemployed for 12 months and had no problem getting hired later on
Eight months is rarely a deal breaker on its own. What matters more is how you explain the time. Consulting work, courses, and staying close to the market all show momentum, which is what recruiters really look for.
