I was interviewed for a position in Wholesale Banking. Completed the HR round salary discussion too. I haven't heard back from them. It's been a couple of weeks. Is it normal for HSBC to delay the offer letter, or have I been rejected?! Should I check back with the HR again?! Kindly help me with how hiring works in HSBC and what I should do now 🙂 HSBC India

Who is currently on a hiring freeze?
“How does it feel to work for a primary engine of the fracturing of society and breakdown of liberal democracy?”
I figure the answer to that one is “on a pile of cash”
If you don’t know enough about the role, you could (1) ask for them to tell you what a day in the life would look like, (2) ask about who within the org that you will be working with, (3) ask about the types of projects that people in the role have worked on in the past 1, 2, or 3 years, (4) ask about why they are filling this role now, etc.
Separately, if you do get this job, I would be prepared to answer questions like the ones others are asking above. I suspect people within Meta likely don’t feel how people outside of Meta do. Their day to day existence may just be that they work with a lot of smart people on interesting/hard problems. Lots of people don’t really realize their actions are directly or indirectly enabling problematic behavior in society. Think about all the lawyers who papered the CDOs that caused the subprime mortgage crisis. Think about the lawyers who papered the sale of the epipen to Mylan (or any other generic pharmaceutical) and imagine if they now have to buy overpriced epipens. Not trying to steer people but lots of lawyers work on stuff that likely will have a negative effect on society.
I’ve asked all of those questions it’s a brand new role and I get the sense that it could be many things but they aren’t sure which direction they want to go in yet.
