I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

Google gets to be as picky as they want bc they are the place where ppl want to be. Don't take it personally!
That's how it works at Google, just because you can stand out to a different FAANG means nothing to them really. Time to move on.
They probably just had a lot of candidates to choose from. If you want to work there, keep applying.
Google is more selective than other FAANG. Not too surprising. A referral doesn't guarantee you an interview.
Having the other FAANG on your resume will help if you apply to Google again in the future. Google just doesn’t have the sheer number of openings that Amazon, Facebook, and Apple have. But they view candidates from peer tech companies favorably.
