A1: plane = jet fuel = big explosion potential with fire. You don't want planes taxiing around that.
Good thing I just got a seat at the bar, let's hope they put that out soon
:( no way... hope everyone is safe and they are able to take care of things soon. Don’t want to be late to get home.
No offense to the situation, but even if there's a fire, that should be such a targeted incident that it doesn't make sense why the entiiiire airport is grounded . Unless it caught fire on the runway, things should go slower, but not stop
Oh I just left there. Damn. Sorry gl guys.
Update: We just taxied but I don't know if planes are taking off. I also don't know how long everyone's been grounded.
My flight is already 30 mins late :( great way to end a Thursday
a fire?!!!
Eh, I think it's fine. The show must go on
@A1 SOP at many airports is to stop all traffic on nearby taxiways when emergency vehicles are moving around and particularly if they’re fire fighting and/or an evacuation of a plane is under way. At an airport like DCA with very limited runways and taxiways, this will effectively freeze everything there. Larger airports might be able to still keep other runways farther away from the incident in use, though a major incident may indefinitely close even the largest airports.
