Hi All, My sister has done Computer Science engineering Bachelor degree and has 5 years of work experience in India. She is applying for MBA at https://www.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/programs/mba/full-time-mba/ and https://kelley.iu.edu/programs/full-time-mba/academics/majors-minors/marketing.html. Her overall goal is to get into Software Product management. Any suggestions if any of these MBA’s can open path in the desired space or if she is better of doing an MS in Comp engg. to further develop deeper Technology skills. Thanks

Great job answering your own question.
Bschools prefer the GMAT because it factors in rankings and class profile. I'd only take the GRE if you're looking at dual degree programs that may require it
Yeah lol. Thank you PL1 for the great insight! Are you saying B schools want to filter out people who take GRE because they know people who take that test are trying easy way out?🤔
See what the schools that you're interested in require and take the exam that is required by more of your choices? Good lord.

Then how you formulated the question should have been different. "Do top b-schools weight GMAT scores / percentiles the same?" or something along those lines.
GRE less helpful because people who take it over GMAT are the ones who pick the easier test to look better on paper.
Dude, the GMAT is the standard and that's just what it is. If anything, GRE will raise suspicions. You're just trying to justify taking the easier test so don't expect PL1 to be nice to you
I took GRE and had no issues at all. Never touched GMAT, currently at a top ten bschool. You'll be fine either way!
I took GRE before and it was so much harder than GMAT. People say GRE easier you are genius!
As a recruiter I'd rather see gmat, and depending on what you go into after school you may need to show your scores on your resume
@PL1 - no need to be douchy about it. I was asking more to understand if schools accept both GRE and GMAT. Does someone with same percentiles in GRE/GMAT treated same or different. Please no need to post if you nothing to add.
@pwc - I personally find GRE easier. Do you think it could really hurt your chances if you take the GRE instead? Why would MBA programs advertise they accept GREs as well if they prefer GMAT. Kind of curious..
Thanks A1. I agree with the technicality of the verbiage but the response ridiculous. Lol.
Lol PL1 not holding back punches tonight
Gre has a lot of obscure vocabulary. Gmat has more math
Also I'd push back about the GRE making admissions people suspicious - I never got a single question about it and got in everywhere I applied. My GRE scores were by no means out of this world either, I just didn't want to pay to take the gmat too. If you are nervous about the gmat, I'd do the GRE - they will likely factor the score less heavily in your application because it doesn't impact their rankings, so they can focus on other attributes of your application more instead.
