It's been really quiet since Fishbowl and Glassdoor integrated and required real-name identity verification.
Real-Name Verification: Following Glassdoor's acquisition of Fishbowl, both platforms updated their policies to require users to submit and verify their real names, job titles, and employers. While this information is ostensibly stored securely on the back end and hidden from the public, the change deeply unsettled users accustomed to total anonymity.
Employers Can Trace Context: Both platforms expressly state in their privacy policies that absolute anonymity cannot be guaranteed. Posts with hyper-specific details about a project, exact locations, or internal team structures often allow employers or HR to deduce exactly who the poster is.
Legal and Subpoena Risks: While Fishbowl states they vigorously fight to defend user anonymity, they must comply with legal requests, warrants, or subpoenas. If a post violates employment laws or NDAs, your true identity could be handed over.
Content Moderation: Companies can flag posts they believe are inaccurate or violate terms of service. In several instances, employers have confronted employees or mass-emailed staff to refute "anonymous" rumors circulating on the app.
I don't think many people really use Fishbowl much, especially EAs. Many bowls are quiet. People here asking if others can give them inside intel on different companies is more like looking for a needle in a haystack. Not many people use this platform. Most companies don't even have their own Bowls.
I agree it was more popular. I think a few years ago these days it’s crickets, especially in our bowl!

It's definitely less active than it has been in the past. Tied to Glassdoor taking it over? Not sure ...
I see a lot more activity on Reddit and Facebook groups.

I have perspectives as someone who has an EA and has seen both the world and this bowl change. It’s a dynamic world and honestly there is way too much people drama
