Everything always takes me so long to do :/
I’m not sure how this will impact this bowl, but it is worth pointing out the need to assess whether there should be concern for those in this bowl. While we all understand ADHD is something attorneys are completely capable of managing with legal positions, not everyone in the field agrees with that. https://joinfishbowl.com/post_va66ztgmkw

I do it contemporaneously or not at all. Always using the timer function on the billing software. I don’t get complaints about time entry this way
Always have your software open and running. And then just enter it right away. That has been the only thing that works for me.
Use the timers and enter it as you go. I actually release it first thing in the AM and not at night because we’re often working so late or think we’re done and then need to log back in for one more thing, etc. but it’s all entered at the end of the day and I just need to release it in the AM as I’m waiting for the coffee / adderall to kick in
This is what I do - use timers and do my best to enter the narratives contemporaneously. Then I usually start my day by reviewing my time entries from the day before and then email our admin team who reviews and releases it. If I stick with it, then even if I forgot to enter a narrative I’m not usually having to write it any later than the next morning. Occasionally though a crazy week happens and I used the timers but didn’t write narratives and I have to go back and fill them all in, which sucks. But first thing in the morning is what helps me most.
I don't have to enter my time yet but I heard this piece of advice that I think would help:
Start the day by creating an entry for each task you plan to work on that day and use it like a to-do list.
Those of you who do it contemporaneously… are you not switching between 3-4 different tasks/pages/client matters? I think that’s where my problem is … I switch while in the middle of one task/matter to another, and forget to start a new timer, or to pause the other timer, etc etc. Yay executive dysfunction 😩
I do the entries for all my tasks for the before I start and add time as I go. If I don’t get to it, I delete it. And for unplanned tasks, I complete the entry before I more on to something else.
I just remember the crippling anxiety I get from having to remember what I did in the past days that it reminds me to enter it contemporaneously. I also remember the amount of time I spend adding them all at once v adding them contemporaneously and how that could go to other billables instead.
I will enter in all of my narratives for the week on Sunday (withour closing it of course). I kay out the neetings and what I expect to do, and set the hour to 0.1. Day of, I edit the narrative as needed and enter the hour. I've found that if I don't do this, I'll fall behind for days on entering my time.
I just found out the time entry software we use has a phone app! That’s helped so much because it’s less cumbersome to sign in, etc. check to see if yours has something similar if you think it would help!
Same. I feel crazy and like a broken record that I can’t just follow through and do it like everyone else. The snowball effect is real.
