Following! in a similar boat wondering if 6 months in is too soon to peace out. and congrats on the offer!!!
Yup, she reached out over LinkedIn and email based on my profile.
Have any advice for applying with little experience? I’m at 9 months of experience and actively looking to get out for a similar reason
I found this opportunity by being head-hunted (have expertise in the startup’s space), but am being interviewed for other roles because I’ve been able to befriend amazing mentors and friends from awesome places. Leveraging your immediate network is definitely a great way to find out what’s available and on the market.
I was personally upfront about my lack of experience, and they appreciated the candor. It depends on the team / position / company / industry, but I indexed heavily on my fit in the company, passion for the product, and analytical rigor on the take home (which was def very important, I created a ten page deliverable so the classic “under-sell, over-deliver” approach). I think startups don’t care about experience on *paper* so much as they care about what you can *actually* do for the company (and how hungry you are to grow and scale the business).
Hope this answers your question! I honestly am blown away by how serendipitous this process has been, and am frankly incredibly lucky to make it this far. Best of luck :)

Startups can be a great experience and an awesome opportunity to learn a lot very quickly. If you don’t have a family/ kids, go for it. If I didn’t have kids I would still be doing the startup thing.
I highly recommend you get everything in writing and have an attorney review it. If it takes off, it is money incredibly well spent.
If you think this is the right fit for you, do it! I recently left D at ~7 months for another role that more closely aligned with my career goals and offered higher TC.
Do it if it's what you want! Just make sure you're clear on terms for paying back your signing bonus, relo, etc. if you're leaving in under a year
Consulting will always take you back, I’d take the start up if it’s something your interested in aligns with your long term goals. If it’s not what you expect you can always boomerang back into consulting
OP where do you work where you have TC $125k as a 1st year analyst?
TC is for startup’s offer, not for consulting haha
Hey OP, what industry is the startup in out of curiosity? Is it health tech, SaaS, any specifics? Thanks in advance
