I would leave. That is a good package. No additional benefit of getting promoted to SM.
Exactly, it’s actually worse as you have way more pressure with sales quota and engagement results yet he is already making higher than some starting sr manager base salaries.
I’d jump for that package. Are you at Deloitte now? I’ll likely be looking to make a similar jump next year when I’m up for SM since I don’t think I want to commit to being miserable for 4-5 years before maybe making partner or potentially being forced into MD route. The pay at SM level at Deloitte just doesn’t seem strong enough to put up with the stress that comes with the role.
I would negotiate the base to 200, and ask about the equity refreshers every year.
I’m an L5 at G and I make close to this. This offer is low for a director
If I can suggest, instead of focusing only on the income increase, consider also the role and responsibilities. Are you clear on what you will do ? Do they fit to you ?? I work for Salesforce, and I can say that CSM role is completely different of what you are doing today in consulting.
Tier 1 city, 10 YoE.
Went from manager in strategy consulting to director in cloud.
255 base, 550k rsu vest over 4yrs and 10-20% bonus target.
What type of company?
Go for Salesforce
I don’t know where you got the idea, but many were promoted to SM and PPMD regardless of covid. It was at a lower rate than usual but covid was not the only reason (probably easiest factor to blame).
Unless you really want to be partner and up for the grind, go for SalesForce. If you do well, you might get to MD type of a role much quicker and easier vs the SM grind ( again IF you get promoted ).
Note: 50-55 will shoot up to many more, including a lot of consistent holiday/ vacation work. So if that’s your concern with you current job, make sure you know what you are getting into at the next level.
MD equivalent being Sr Director? Whats the avg package at that level? From my understanding SF doesnt give refreshers correct?
That package does not sound like a director package at all if you ask me.
OP - yeah exactly. It’s comparable to what you would get in TC for a first year big 4/Accenture senior manager role.
Salesforce has way better culture than B4 and you will be happier. Pay is in range for salesforce. Ask for signing bonus
Should I wait until i get promoted and then try to exit? Goal is to exit to tech with a better work life balance but not take a pay cut either.
Rising Star
Personal experience is tech doesn’t really care on the sr. Mgr vs manager title difference...I do find that new managers in consulting do not see that types of roles you will.
Moreso I think the question is what type of role you want in tech
Go for it.. its a great firm.. along with TC, WLB and other benefits are top notch👍🏻
The package is fair - the only thing to consider is the role itself. Are you going to be managing other SMs or is this an IC role? Success management is either a love or hate position. You have very little resources at your disposal to solve a myriad of complex problems in what is seemingly an ever-expanding product line...
S2 if we’re saying the same thing, how is pretending to add value to the same thing as solving a myriad of complex problems?
What location?
Sounds right for low cost of living area
Higher growth company. Get in now.
This is a good offer- go for it!
Following as in a similar situation. Best of luck OP
if both comps are relatively the same and your end goal is to eventually get out of consulting then the SF offer may be the way to go!
Median base for Director at SFDC is $220k. TC is close to $350k.
Yes I was referring to SF
What city? I think with the equity and pay bump it’s worth it. You sure Salesforce will have better WLB than what you have now?
Ask for sign-on bonus from Salesforce too since you’re leaving before you get your bonus from 2020
