So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

Were you fired or laid off? I can’t imagine what would need to happen for someone to be blacklisted. Did HR tell you this when you left?
If you don’t think there was cause, find an employment lawyer and ask for a copy of your employee records via subpoena as discovery. Hire a PI if you believe slander is at play.
This might change their minds to avoid a lawsuit. If not, your lawyer will determine if there’s a case.
If there was just cause, good time to view as a learning opportunity and do some serious self reflection. You’ll get through this! Keep your chin up
omg so it was YOU who was the one behind the Gillette ad!!! 😱
Sounds like you REALLY got fired
You can start by returning the printer paper.
Fake moustache
Depends what you did to be fired.
Did you fake a hate crime at the office??
Spill the beans. What'd you do?
Good thing there's at least two other holding companies. But yeah wow what'd you do to get blacklisted?
True. And I hope MDC has stopped procreating
If you are fired (not laid off), you’re listed as not available for rehire. Most holding companies have databases of people listed as this. Malfeasance ISN’T required to be listed that way. If you were put on a PIP and let go for non improvement. You would be listed as not available for rehire. Now if you were let go for anything illegal or for breaking/repeatedly breaking parts of the employee codes of conduct the same thing would apply.
But I thought permanent records were just an elementary school myth!
<Pikachu face>
Why would you want to get back in there ?
There are 5 holding companies that own 90% of the agencies.
Does being fired as opposed to being laid off imply being blacklisted?
Yeah I think the idea being laid off could be losing a client, can't carry your position anymore, etc. Fired implies some kind of malfeasance that necessitated being fired
From what I know, when you get fired versus laid off you actually sign off that you’re not allowed to be hired for any other agencies under the holdings company. Not necessarily that the person did something so huge they were blacklisted
Did the holding company outright say you're blacklisted from all their agencies?
“Work at Freelance” as LinkedIn would say.
What did you do?
