Diversity hiring at law firms violates Title VII? Hi all— would love to get your thoughts on Title VII discrimination relating to diversity hiring at law firms. Found the below letter on the retired
JDUnderground (I miss you!) website archives. This post was addressed to the EEOC, now a few years old. It raises an interesting question relating to legal interns and summer associates hired
through 1L racial diversity programs. https://web.archive.org/web/20190507025457/http://www.jdunderground.com/law/thread.php?threadId=187956

If you're a director or principal then yes. If not nope.
Depends on your skills
What is your current skill set and level
Maybe, depends where you're coming in. That number is senior architect base-ish.
Focus on the improvement to work life balance. If money is a motivating factor then you will be disappointed
I would consider going for 150k. Is that within range for a Consultant level at Slalom?
@op. What level are you now and what skillset
@slalom1 - Left EY as a Senior. Currently a Sr. Mgr at startup. Main skill set is product development, Agile and have done work in M&A/Go to market/supply chain as well. ~7 years of total work experience
You will get a base of 130-135.
Your skills dont map to a hot slalom area. You would only make the base you want if you were brought in as a leader. And in that case they would probably just grab an experienced big 4 mgr.
This is just my opinion / guess though. Your experience may be different
What’s considered a "hot” Slalom area?
Analytics, cloud, salesforce (certain parts of it)
Ah. Yeah, not deeply experienced in any of those. I fall somewhere between strategy and operations and delivery excellence. Any idea which practice is better (less grueling projects, prestige, etc)? Thanks for the insights Slalom1
Experienced practioners are what we are looking for
Our projects are all mellow. 40-45 hours max. You really cant go wrong w any practice
Remote work allowed? Or depending on client?
Depends on the client but we are not a "boots on the ground" by default company. Our teams alternate between home, office and client location
Got it. Seems like firm is very office centric. As in, can’t move from one office to another without essentially re applying?
At the lower levels its easy to transfer assuming the office you are moving to does consulting in what you want to do.
Once you hit principle and higher it is more difficult because offices dont have very many leaders
From what I’ve seen agile is a pretty hot area in Slalom in general but I can’t speak to specifics in SoCal market
