Guys i have two asks 1) anyone knows how long we could stay and find a job on a Skilled Worker Visa. Its been two months i was laid off and still trying to find a job.I havent received any communication from gov so far . Do I need to be worried? Shall I contact gov to check for overstaying? My LinkedIn feed was absolutely filled with layoffs today. What happened? A month or two ago it was a candidate’s market and the offers were great but now everything has shifted. I was informed that I am not getting a promotion that I was gunning for, and when I pushed back about being fairly compensated for my work the response about it not being a good time to ask was really ominous. Anyone else feeling bummed?

So as we were the first to get hit with COVID in NY, we are seeing declines in numbers now. Travelers are cut short of their contract, our hours are getting cut, and staffs are laid off. Got a call yesterday from HR that now staffs need to file for unemployment to compensate for the lost hours. We risked our lives for this fight, now they are letting us go. Shit’s fucked.

My temp contract has been extended. I’m relieved to be able to pay the bills, but after giving 70-80 shots a day, I literally dream about giving vaccines almost every night! Struggling to keep positive about finding a new permanent job - I was laid off at the end of April, have applied to over 60 jobs, had 6 interviews, and no offers. I can’t go back to chain retail - it damn near broke me in my 20’s, and it’s much worse now.

I was laid off in June. Most consulting companies are on a hiring freeze that I’ve talked to. It’s pretty hard on my psyche to not get down on myself.
