It's not so much that I get emotional, but if someone is acting like a decent person I just tend to be more accommodating. It's an odd thing in society, people in the past ten years or so have gotten really rude, and it really doesn't help them any. And I find that when I'm a customer if I'm polite and treat the other person with respect things just go smoothly.
So true. it really doesn’t cost anything to just be decent. The whole interaction goes smoother when both sides show a little respect. It’s wild how rare that feels these days.
I agree with you, I am always armed and prepared for the worst, so when someone comes off nice, I am always confused. But it's so nice, it definitely changes my day for the better. I love that kind of surprise. Is that weird?
Not weird at all. I feel the same. It’s almost disarming when someone’s actually kind, like you don’t know how to react at first. But honestly, those small moments of decency really do flip the whole day around.
It's crazy how we are just so conditioned to being mistreated in the workplace. Like, what other profession is shocked when people give them the most basic communication and dignity?
Exactly! It says a lot about the industry when we’re shocked by basic kindness. It’s like we’ve been trained to expect the worst, so when someone is just normal, it feels like a gift.

I had a call from a customer who was frustrated with our website’s interface. I braced myself for a full-on rant, but instead, she calmly said, “It’s not my fault.” I was surprised, she was upset, but not rude. It’s rare when someone stays cool in moments like that.
That’s honestly the best kind of customer still frustrated, but remembering there’s a human on the other end

Yes! It’s like my brain short-circuits because I’m so used to bracing for impact. Respect shouldn’t feel like a plot twist, but here we are.
Exactly! It’s like you’re already in defense mode, and when they’re actually kind it almost throws you off in the best way.
