Had anyone worked with 10k/ 10q?

what do you do exactly? As a high level, my guess is to extract the GL / TB data from the accounting software then put them on the FS with proper notes and disclosures then have the manager to review, and then auditors come in and audit the FS?

Did you have a long 10k/10q compliance checklist to complete to ensure the FS disclosured everything and meet the SEC requirement?

I haven’t worked on it directly but was an auditor on the financial reporting BP for a large accelerated filer.

The various SMEs were responsible for compiling their sections of the 10-Q/10-K within Workiva and then the financial reporting team works on MD&A and more general footnotes (Fn 1 as an example).

If it’s a large company like my client, they have a separate GL team who extracts trial balance into workiva as well. The financial reporting team is just responsible for reviewing everyone else’s sections, entering their sections and ensuring it goes through relevant reviews. They also have a close checklist to ensure they do everything they need to.

Afterwards they share the first draft with the auditors and the auditors provide comments. It goes on like this until the final draft is agreed upon and they file with the SEC.

Auditors also have a GAAP checklist that the clients need to fill in to confirm they’ve disclosed everything required.

Also at the big companies they have an accounting policy team who stays abreast of new guidance and they spend months ahead of effective date to get it ready to be disclosed in the financial statements. They’ll also work with the auditors as well to ensure they’re in alignment.

I assume at the smaller companies they might not have as many teams working on the 10k/10q but I don’t have experience with that.

Has anyone ever done aggression training for their dog? Met with a trainer who basically wants us to either keep our dog crated or on a leash at all times and said no pets or play time for now. Our dog has been acting out ever since we brought home our newborn and also bit our groomer. Trainer has me terrified that the dog will hurt the baby but my heart is breaking that I can’t give any “love” to my dog right now. Any similar experiences or thoughts?

Switching from commission to salary!

I’m considering a less sales-oriented role that doesn’t pay commission. The new role will have a higher base but lower overall earning potential.

What % haircut should be expected? As an example, if I make 100k (base + commission) today, would it be realistic to ask for 90k (10% cut) + equity to make up the difference?

Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.
