There will always be people who make more money than you and more people who make less. I find I make more than 75% of my friends. It’s not a bad career money wise but definitely not the best.
Being a good person is all that matters in this world.
Those jobs and that world are wholly different from yours. Seems like you are at peace. Many of those people are addicted to work. Not a great place to be.
Damn you sound pretty successful yourself. There are a lot of people hustling hard to get into your shoes. I haven't had a vacation in years.
More money, more problems
Your success doesn’t have to be defined by their standards. I’m happy for those that make more and have the fancy titles. I choose not to pursue that and I’m at peace. My definition of success is ensuring my kid is a better person that I was / ever will be. My success is not tied to my checking account. Find and own your own version. It doesn’t necessarily have to be keeping up with the Joneses. That will wear you down fast.
I mean, no, you won’t make that money. But no need to demonize them. You had different career interests and the top tier of their careers pays more than yours. Unless they are throwing wealth in your face to make you feel bad, then friendship is more important than money and it’s your insecurity that’s the problem.
OP, then don’t be friends with people like that, regardless of their income.
BA1, how do you know how OP’s friends feel about work?
Look, I’m old. And friends mean a lot. It’s harder and harder to make them as you get older and it’s sometimes hard to give them grace in those middle years when yours lives drift apart a bit. But later on, they may end up being important people for you. My point is, if you liked them before, don’t trash them just because, right now, you are a little jealous.

You should aim to be a thought leadership person, that’ll make you significantly more interesting
