You’re off to a good start! As a critique, you should practice more on the UI side so your projects look more polished. If you can freelance for a real project, that will help.
Also, to maintain your visa status, you should stick to what has the higher probability of you being hired, for now.
UX is very difficult for even experienced designers to find jobs because of the shakeups in tech and the economy. If you can intern again, I suggest that but this time in UX. There are a lot of internship postings right now.
Check out ideatelabs.com. They post entry level jobs, although you have to do a lot of digging since some are outdated.
