Has any one received feedback in their reviews that they appear defensive and how did you handle it or change the perception? Additionally, the male boss interprets any email that calls out a problem as being “upset“. There is no emotion in the email that was used as an example. I’ve had several others review it as 2nd/3rd opinions and there are an agreement that the email does not have any emotion. How does one change this perception other than not talking to their boss at all!?

By not raising issues via email first. Raise it in a phone call first (with proposed solutions) , then document via email afterwards

@IT you know that is totally different. You are prepping for a call so of course you would provide a preread summary of ongoing activities / status / issues

Ask your boss to identify the “emotion” in the email.

Sounds like you’re being documented for your boss’ misogyny. Get thee a new boss ASAP.

like

“Documented for misogamy”? Not following what you mean. But yes, looking for exit opportunities….

Are you new in this role or a new manager?

Is this something new that you attempted?

I had a similar situation. When I talked with my manager it came down to using words “I think”, “frustrated” (even if that was a word that others used about the situation), and using people’s names.

In your next call or meeting with your boss, walk through the scenario and what he needs or wants done here.

Feel free to dm.

But if you have a mentor that is a layer or two above your boss in the org chart, that would be willing to review the company’s culture about stuff like this, that can help as well.

I’m not new and the is not a new role. I’m the only female direct on the team. I can say that it feels like any time there is a sliver of pushback against another colleague on the team, (lower level but again male), my boss vehemently comes at me as if I’m in the wrong “emotional” or incorrect in my assessment. Needless to say he thinks very highly of this person and they can do no wrong.

I found out last night that a senior copywriter at my agency who does little follow-up and passes off work to others (read: me) to handle when there are questions from team members…was recently promoted to copy supervisor.

Trust me when I say that this person can’t supervise putting toothpaste on a toothbrush. Must be nice to be liked by the right people.

I have a direct report who is smart, passionate about her job and can be really innovative. However she carries this enormous weight of responsibility, for needing to do everything, do it right, make sure it's perfect, not trusting colleagues to help. It creates dread and panic and overwhelming workload and a terrible attitude for her and I am speaking with her this week to start to shift her mindset. Any tips in navigating how to let go of this heavy idea of "responsibility"?

Hello All, my joining date needs to be extended by 5 days in JPMC and HR said in call that no revised offer letter based on new joining date will be issued and new joining date confirmation will be somewhat communicated prior to 3 days of onboarding.
However he mentioned he will reply back with a confirmation email on top of the email which I have sent requesting for revised joining date.
Do you see any risk of offer cancellation/revocation here?
