there are plenty of companies that do this (so they drop them, you pay etc) better than owning equipment if you are small-ish
We have kits we use but otherwise our post houses have been sending remote VO equipment so I don’t have direct experience but I’d def recommend you consult with your BA and insurance provider to make sure you understand coverages.
We sent out remote VO kits during the pandemic. Very simple stuff: a Shure mic, mic cable, Zoom recorder, pop filter, stand and headphones. I’d then get in a Zoom call with the talent to run them through setup and operation. Then another Zoom with the creative team to direct the session.
Zoom recorder prob won’t have enough clean gain for a podcast with just a zoom recorder. Might need a cloud lifter to boost some
More gain for an sm58 requires about 50 db gain. Also voip like ipdtl, source connect and audio movers are all easy accessible via an internet connection.
Impossible because recoding VO requires good acoustics .
Yes in Acoustically treated bedrooms, I think your confused with podcast. You can record a podcast on a dynamic mic anywhere. VO is recorded with condenser mics that require very low noise floors. An sm58 is a podcast mic.
You can hire me for my expertise if you really need a drop kit.
I haven't created one yet. But I have to agree with E1. You can actually hire someone for the task.
