Is eBay still alive in 2024? Has anyone bought anything from ebay in the last 6 months? If yes, what did you buy and how was your experience? (Experience compared to buying from amazon, etsy, shein, other platforms)

I buy and sell on eBay all the time, although now it's mostly sell. It brings me an extra $2k profit a month.

How much time does your eBay take per month. Are you a reseller of estate sale stuff or do you create a specialty prosuct

I buy and sell used engine parts on ebay. It's good for slow moving esoteric items that need to find that one buyer somewhere in the world.

It’s still up and running just fine? Why would it have died, still a good customer experience

OP - are you trying to look for specific advice here? EBay works fine for those of us who are using it. If you're looking to understand a specific use case, maybe share that instead of asking opaque questions.

Bought a cheap iPhone mini to use as a continuity camera. eBay had the best price for refurbs compared to Amazon, Bestbuy or other vendors. Experience was great, 2 day shipping, hassle free paid return. But given a choice I'd use prime everytime.

I bought a fancy used garmin watch for 25% of what it costs new. Love eBay for these types of things honestly. And I can still use it towards my wellness subsidy since I get a legit receipt.

Hello, while being a consultant is my day job I also sell things from garage sales and occasional clearance items from stores like Walmart on eBay (These activities do have to be disclosed to independence). I've been doing this for 6 years now and I have had a positive experience. There will always be bad sellers and buyers, but eBay has systems in place and buyers are presumed innocent until proven guilty so as a buyer you can feel pretty safe.

I did. Bought a blazer that retails for $1500+ for $60. It's not really a popular name brand so wouldn't be a fake, received it in 5 days.

I'd place ebay above marketplace since it has a better checkout and shipping system.

I buy vintage watches and vintage watch parts off eBay. I know what I want, I know what it is worth, I know what I am will to pay.

I rarely bid. I message seller with an offer. They either ignore, reject, or negotiate. If we agree on a price, he sends me an offer through eBay and we execute the deal.

It’s a good user experience but flooded with Chinese fake items. I recently bought some golf items off it knowing there were fake (and so a fraction of the price), but be careful if you’re wanting genuine stuff!

I just ordered couple of things off it. I lost my job so trying to save money. They were cheaper than amazon and 2 day shipping. For example scrub daddy. Wash clothes. And my kids kitchen sink for playin.

1/3 Question on tax treatment of nonpriority unsecured claims converted into long-term note decreased total liabilities under Chapter 11. An accrual based C-Corp taxpayer completed a Chapter 11 reorganization and converted a total of $1M A/P to suppliers into a $410K LT note (a $590K liability reduction). Should we view this $590K as the Sec. 108(a)(1)(A) excludable income? After reading through IRS Pub 4681, I think it makes sense to view the $590 as "Reduced Price After Purchase", but not

Also, are there any provisions you’d consider absolutely crucial from the owner’s side?

Does anyone have any advice on investing in the LI area (best location, SFH v MFH) or just general first time rental property buying advice?

Currently 25 years old.
Goals:
* Own a home in a HCOL
* 2 kids (eventually)
* Retire at 50 on $125k/year.

Envelope math:
* $125k/year would require an investment portfolio of ~$3M.
* Targeting a $2M home (split with partner)
* 2 kids - $1M to raise both (including college fund, split with partner)
* $500K buffer for unexpected expenses
* 33% tax

Therefore, 6.5-7M retirement savings needed. To hit this (assuming 6% return after inflation), I’d need to save ~$110k/year.

How does this sound?
