It’s hard to do in the short term. I really struggled in my career about age 35-45 which should be prime years. Doing really great now at 64 but there are a few scars that time and maturity handle well. My hardest lesson was to know what your next step should be and why.
You make a great point there.
I'm a contractor and have had more than my share of those :-) Budget cuts, changes in direction, etc. It can be hard to deal with, agreed, but you should never feel low or lose confidence :-) I take the approach that it was something out of my control and "keep on truckin'". We are sitting in a job market where nothing is for sure anymore so actually expecting a setback like that should almost become a mindset :-) I've also found that with consulting gigs (I've been doing this for a LOT of years), there are many instances where what YOU end up doing is nothing like what was initially discussed :-)
