I’m a junior litigation lawyer based in Windsor looking to lateral to corporate big law. I have been doing commercial litigation, tax litigation, and tax planning. I’ve done corporate reorganization, corporate structuring, rollovers so corporate would not be completely new to me. I did a solicitor rotation during articling and was involved with several m&a deals. Has anyone managed to make the jump from litigation in Windsor to Toronto big law corporate? Your advice is greatly appreciated.

I am currently working as a Data Science Analyst in Amex and would like to make a switch to Fraud detection/Credit risk modelling in future.(not in a hurry but would like to start preparing for the same)
How should I go about preparing for it? Is MBA the only course?
My current tech stack is Python, Pyspark, Hive, SQL, ML, DL(specifically NLP based). I have already done MS in CS from IIT Kgp.
I am confused mainly cause the tech stack requirement is similar to my role in the company.

I wish to go into technical (development) profile now, but not as a fresher. I want to continue with 3 yoe.
But the issue is, I have no (dev) project to show in interview as an 3 yoe person.

I've learned Java, springboot, restfulAPIs, kafka, but still hesitant to go for interviews as I do not have projects to discuss.

I shall be very thankful to you if you help me here.
How/where can i go to make projects now to justify 3yoe?

Here is my idea for a startup! I collect all the data from career transitions and use Data Analytics to predict the most likely career transitions. I could start with consulting. What do you guys think about this? I would be able to predict based on your firm(mbb, big4), your experience, which role you are likely to move (Faang pm, strategy manager, move to mbb). They are all technical. All of them could easily be very technical cloud consultants or cloud engineers.
Tl/Dr. If you couldn't get hired as a cloud engineer or cloud consultant - you probably can't become a PM

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

No matter how many years I’ve freelanced, I still find it difficult to accurately (and fairly) predict how many hours a project will take in order to bid on it (and bake in revisions). Any tips or tricks out there?
