The truth is, it’s probably going to take our jobs. You can tell this is true because of how hard leadership and tenured FDD folk are coping about it.
It’s not a matter of if, but when. Could you seriously imagine that we’ll still be opening excel and doing anything manual whatsoever in 5 years from now? How about 10 years?
Im no longer at RSM, but a small firm. I think the optimal model for next few years is offshore using AI and a director and partner.
You get trained at big firms with traditional models then hired at the level they bring people in (usually director or manager)
Probably gonna seen a faster race to the bottom as firms move down market trying to grab market share with their new AI enabled staffing model which is basically Senior + AI for less important clients and Director + AI for ones that demand more care. Regardless of whether this model works or not leadership would believe this is the right approach since it results in the most $$$ in the short term while this profession digs its own grave.

FDD is an extremely AI—able task / work product. It’s based largely off of objective data and with the way these LLMs are going, it’s going to be able to put together better analysis than any human. I foresee a significant shift in how deals are staffed, and the number of deals that can be run simultaneously. The older partners and directors / SDs / etc. that aren’t embracing this wave are going to be left behind.
