Has anyone else been hit by underpaid tax notice from HMRC? I've suddenly been told I have underpaid tax by £2400, so they've changed my tax code and they will recover this amount from my salary over the next few months. I want to understand the calculation of how they got to the £2400 (they sent me a letter but it's not clear). I called them but the guy on the phone was unable to explain. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Any guidance would be appreciated as quite stressed. Thanks!!
