My background is WC underwriting. Do you have any designations? Since you work in RM how familiar are you with RM lines (LD’s, SIR’s, etc.)?

To answer your question, I’d start looking at monoline WC Carriers first. There are tons of ttt but em and they value your background.

I think with your experience and understanding, you’d be a great asset as an Underwriter. The understanding of implications in the real world is a tough part to grasp sometimes, so you’d be great at selling and explaining coverages to brokers/insureds, etc.

I’m a newish Partner in a mid-sized firm. We have had different comp approaches (global pool, 70-30, 50-50 global /region) over the years. I learned that over the last 10-12 years the Americas have always been a contributor, Europe always a recipient, other regions mixed. It’s like $200k per NA partner a year, and we are now talking about reverting back to a global pool, meaning $400k+ yearly subsidies.

Is this level the norm in other firms? Any other firms have a wallet-suck region?
