It is always the people who are good at kissing the right rear ends too. I hate to say that but there is so much favoritism and politics at play as well.

Exactly. Half the time it’s not about the work, it’s about who they’re cozy with. The favoritism gets so obvious it’s frustrating.

You have to be both to excel. Because just working hard and not talking about it would not take you anywhere. I remember an annoying girl at this retail store who wouldn't do anything but just talk all day and she was promoted as an assistant manager later.
Why not do both? If you know how to come up with clever solutions and you can figure out how to implement them while delegating, that's even better.

True, doing both is ideal. I’m just trying to find that balance. I’m solid on the execution side, but the whole ‘selling myself’ part doesn’t come naturally. Still working on blending the two without feeling fake.
