Has anyone ever quit because the pace of work was way too fast for what they were capable of producing? I am at my wits end.

I’d love to speak with an attorney who has dealt with burnout. Please DM if you’re interested in commiserating.

Chiming in as one of the ones who got seriously ill. Two emergency surgeries and an exciting new permanent condition in addition to terrible ulcers. And that's *after* eight years of meds & therapy just so I could keep doing the stupid job.
Get out while you're still healthy but find a new job (I suggest something you love that's JD-advantage) before you quit!

Thanks for the advice and hope your health is manageable now … so sorry you went through that

Sort of? I slept so little that I developed health problems requiring me to move to a metro area/resign to get treatment and had to go on temporary state disability.

So sorry this happened to you

Thanks. Me too. Sadly, I think for a lot of us our job requirements cause serious health issues.

Going through this now. I’ll be putting my notice in at the end of the month with or without a job lined up. I finally reached a breaking point and I’m putting myself first. To be honest I’m terrified about being unemployed but I need to prioritize my wellbeing.

Sharks and other fishes,
I need some career advice,
In my current company I think the development portion I've been given is kinda simple, I've asked my manager and seniors to level up my work and stuff, *which they did* but I kinda caught up.. now what should I do, should I ask them to level up again or look for better opportunities
Also, I had some Interest in CyberSecurity and I grinded it on my pre-final semester at Uni, should I try on that path as well or should I stick to development?

Additional Posts in Law Exit Opportunities

I work with great people. Really can’t say anything bad about my firm in general either. But…I still dislike the entire premise of law firm life, the billable hour, etc.. I’d love to work in a law school setting as a counselor or something but I can’t afford the pay cut. *sigh* Does anyone feel like being a lawyer is just doing homework all day? First world problems I suppose. I’m very thankful to have a job ❤️

I’m so miserable every day is painful. I want to go tell pre-law school me it’s not worth the debt because you will hate this career and then feel trapped by the debt. And then I want to come back to present day, quit this life-leeching, soul-sucking job and start over doing something else entirely. Too much? Oh well. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I’ve been practicing in both big law (many yrs ago) and now in-house for over 10 years. Quite often I struggle because I don’t find work fulfilling. I’ve been in industries that allegedly have greater cause (healthcare) but was eventually disappointed by the corporate bureaucracy and went to a cutting-edge tech company for intellectual stimulation. Still I struggle. Should I try public interest? Not that I don’t need the money but it’s hard to work when I am so detached and find it meaningless

My physical and mental health have been suffering, so I really don't think I could stay. How did you avoid the guilt trips from Partners/Senior staff trying to get you to stay?
