I have. What sucks is that you can’t communicate what you’d like to do since you don’t know what it is.

In my case, I ended up listing out the components of my current role which I didn’t mind and tried to look up different groups and meet people across different groups and try to piece which option I found the most intriguing (and in line with my interests). I then talked to my RL about rotational opportunities. It took a while though so I’d just encourage you to be patient as it’s a long process.

I’ll also encourage you to speak with more experienced people who you trust and tell them what type of stuff you like and seek their guidance regarding if there’s a group/team they know which does that type of work.

Talking to your coach and RL can help more than you think. They have your best interests in mind and even when I thought I knew what I wanted, it was my coach that told me about the opportunity I ended up moving into. Plus there are so many tours being offered right now as well. I recommend reading the descriptions of open roles and see if anything sounds interesting. Agree w the other poster that patience is key though and to keep an open mind.

I’d be cautious on this one. I ended up almost getting coached out of the organization for voicing interests/confusion as they took it as me not being interested in their practice or having a lack of drive. Most people at PwC know exactly what they want. Had a very rough practice transfer, and this depends on the RL.

But not everyone is out there to get you at PwC. And you will find good people.

Get the book on ikigai. Also, as BIZARRE as this is going to sound, look up human design. It’s borderline woo woo but it’s astonishingly accurate in putting to words what could be missing for you in your current role.0

I am currently in industry, but was a Senior in Accounting Advisory, and before that an audit associate. I’m thinking of trying DDV at PwC as I’ve always been interested in M&A integration, but am unsure on carry over of skills and also would like to go somewhere I can be bumped to Manager as I was almost there prior to leaving industry. I know they are on a hiring spree so would coming in as a Manager be possible? I’ve previously been on M&A audit/AAS engagements.

I’ve flirted with private practice work in the past, but my spouse has been worried about not having affordable healthcare and benefits that each system provides. Is it worth the jump? Am I overthinking things?
