Has anyone gotten a JD or PhD after being an experienced CPA, and seen a significant increase in value and earnings because of it?

I haven’t pursued any of these but I know several people who have. JD + CPA is a good combo for tax attorneys, transactional lawyers, and forensic accountants/investigators. PhD + CPA is a good combo for accounting professors and expert witnesses. All the career paths I mentioned are very lucrative.

If you’re just looking for a pay bump because of your credentials and plan on staying in something like in Big 4 audit/tax or industry it’s probably not going to be worth it

JD yes, PhD no

The JD can help you break into specialty practice, but make sure you consider the 3 years and tuition costs. If you are already climbing in big 4 it’s likely not worth it.

Open to any recommendations please (books, personal stories, etc).

Wondering for anyone who got their CFF (Ceritified Financial Forensics) designation. Was it difficult? How long does it take to study for using the review course? Is the exam mainly multiple choice or short answer and how difficult? Any guidance or tips would help please. I already have my CFE but just want to know if CFF is worth it

I had a zoom interview with three partners last Thursday. I thought it went super well, but haven't heard anything yet. Should I follow up with the in-firm recruiter, if so, when? This is for a position in a highly ranked but regional (mountain state) firm. Thanks!

I need advice.
I work at an manufacturing company as a technician. My job title is a technician but they use me as an engineer as-well. There are three techs overall in the company. My boss who hired me understands what my degree is in so he uses me to design parts and write reports. The plant manager doesn’t know my skills so anytime I’m in the office working he calls me to the floor to do something the other techs can do. Should I have a talk with the boss about it? (I ran out of characters)

I applied for a job and received an offer from my client. 15k+ bump in salary, better benefits/remote work, and responsibilities will give me exposure to all areas of the organization (start up). The problem is that they’re looking to staff me as a Senior when I’m currently a Manager at DT. They said they’re flexible on title, but curious to hear how others have navigated similar situations. I would report directly to the controller and have 1-2 staff reporting to me...
