Cushman & Wakefield Interested in a Sales Associate position at Cushman & Wakefield. I have experience as a government analyst for 7 years but nothing related to commercial real estate. I want to become a more competitive applicant but not sure where to start. Are there any certificates, skills, or knowledge that I should be learning in my free time?

I'm currently working as a firmware developer in Radar SW (2yrs of experience), recently I got a opportunity to switch as pre/post silicon validation engineer at Qualcomm with good package and RSU's. I would like to switch. Any thoughts on my decision? Thanks.

No l, not a nightmare. Moving up in grades is easy, moving down is harder. You’d be surprised how well the elementary kiddos have prepared you for the middle school kids. Yes they think they’re ready for prime time, but they have a lot more in common with the lower grades
I absolutely love middle school! It is my happy place.

I taught 5th grade for a couple years at the elementary school before I taught 6th grade at the Middle School. I taught 6th grade ELA for 27 years. (I recently retired.) Perhaps I am in the minority, but I loved middle school. My schedule was more balanced…rather than block scheduling. Yes, middle schoolers are a unique breed, as are the teachers. Yes, they do go through puberty and are changing, but it’s never boring and they are still cute. I loved this age because they now get jokes, don’t need to be holding my hand all the time, and are funny. I do agree with another poster, teaching at the middle level is not for the faint of heart. You need a firm hand. Your students need to know that you are in charge and rules must be followed and carried through. This age group is learning independence and responsibility. Don’t view this as torture. You will love these years! It’s all about perspective, fix yours, or you won’t enjoy it.

I’m so glad I could help. Once you get use to it, you’ll love it. Oh, wait for people to say what grade do you teach? When you say any grade at the middle level, people respond with…Oh. Really? Or my personal favorite, Was that your choice? Just wait. You will really love it! Welcome to the “crazy” teachers!!
Advice- middle schoolers require a firm hand. you can have fun with them, but you need to be in control. all MS teachers we've had and I currently work with who fail to heed this advice last 2-3 years tops.
Middle school is the worst .... and best. But mostly the worst. Their brains are all messed up in that time. One day they bring Legos and trading cards to school the next they are looking at porn. Look up How Middle Schoolers act on YouTube shorts. While funny these teachers videos are 100% dead on accurate. Here this one is a good one to watch https://www.instagram.com/reel/Ca7iyu-g4bu/
I was a long term sub in middle school before I started teaching in elementary. My sarcastic personality fits better with middle school so I’m going back.
It really just depends on if it’s a good fit for you or not and there’s a million factors to that!
I taught 2nd grade for a few years before moving up to 8th. The prep work is half, I no longer bring work home. The kids are more hands off and I love having misbehaving kids for only an hour a day at a time.
I like teaching 6th graders. The hormones don't start kicking in until 7th grade.
I would think the planning is much easier for middle school, at least.
Yep!!!! I started in elementary school & moved up. I stayed in middle school for 115 YEARS!!!! I absolutely LOVED IT!!! My HUGE mistake was moving to HIGH SCHOOL this year!!! That was a MAJOR MISTAKE!!! In our town, we have 2 middle schools. I came from the one where the test scores are higher & the behavior is better. Where did 95% of my students come from?!? Yep—you guessed it—the OTHER MIDDLE SCHOOL!!! They are something else… the students are wild & the teachers have no classroom management & it shows!!! It’s been difficult trying to turn behavior around just to get them to LEARN!!!! I certainly feel your pain!!! Job postings are coming out. If you are not happy, be looking for another elementary position!
I loved the video Mississippi posted. I have not worked elementary, but I have worked middle school and high school, and I prefer high school. Middle schoolers are going through puberty, and their hormones are all over the place. One day they act grown up, and the next day (or hour) they act like elementary kids. You have to have a good sense of humor and a LOT of patience. Have firm, fast rules and repeat them about a dozen times a day. Kentucky's high school sounds like a bunch of big middle schoolers. The best way to handle all students is relentless consistency and find something to love in them. My favorite saying is, "The kids who need the most love will ask for it in the most unloving of ways." Keep a positive outlook, and it will wear off on them.
