It’s better to leave after you have another job lined up. But mental health takes priority. Even then I would first use vacation time or any other benefit your firm offers to think game-plan before quitting if you don’t have another job lined up. And of course, if you can afford to do it depends on your financial situation. Being unemployed while the bills pile up is more stressful.
On perception, nobody at B4 will remember you after a week. You can tell recruiters that you took a career break. Given how tough the job market is, you will need to plan for a long period before getting your next job
If you are having mental health issues after a few weeks there may be a bigger issue - you are still in the “honeymoon” phase of employment.
I was desperate and took a job at this firm knowing the reviews on Glassdoor all said it was a terrible place to work. A better offer from another firm came in 6 weeks later and I left. Better salary, better health insurance. The Partner called me to ask what happened, but I was so new. Nobody really cared or noticed lol.
Thank you guys. I am severely regretting joining this new company to the point where it’s impacting my wellbeing. I also don’t want to leave without another job lined up so it’s been challenging.
