Has anyone successfully moved from a highly intense, always-on team to a more balanced one without slowing their long-term career growth? I’m curious whether this tradeoff is as real as people often claim.

In your experience, what happened after you made the move? Did you find better sustainability, higher performance, more fulfillment, or did it impact your advancement opportunities?

I changed careers for a better balance. Advancement and pay are much higher. All around better. Quality of work is better. Everyone is happier.

Received offer from BCG for ECT AD role. Read numerous comments about ECT being not attractive compared to Generalists track. Also heard challenges about billability/utilization. Any views/guidance is appreciated.

Background - I am not super keen to become an equity partner and comfortable to stay on ECT track. Main reason to join will be opportunity to work with different clients, smart talented people and good brand. I may consider going back to industry after 3-5 years in ECT.

I’ve been working for my State Farm agency as a team member for 2 years. I am licensed in property and casualty as well as life and health, but only make $13 an hour. I technically can make bonuses but I’m not supposed to dig into a sale and I have to send it to a sales rep (I am service and retention mostly). My boss also has me running a retired agents office until a new one is chosen (its an hour away with no pay increase or mileage pay). Also, no benefits! Should I start job searching?
