Has anyone switched from research to more product-facing work? I’m curious about PM roles in biotech, but my experience is entirely experiments and data. I don’t want to start over, but I do want something broader. What kind of transition actually works?

I mean if you can spin it where all the experiments and data can tie into project management then go for it. I would also look into quality, regulatory, or compliance roles cause they easily translate too

I transitioned into MSAT from lab based work
I apply my lab experience and knowledge to solving issues on a larger scale

Rather than 1 cm columns now I do 80 cm lol

What is one of the most frustrating parts of being a scientist or researcher?

I'll tell you what it is: referencing!

You have to do so much of it, and it's so annoying. You have to cite your sources, but there are so many different formats for citations! And then sometimes you don't even know how to cite something, and how are you supposed to know that unless you ask someone who knows? And even then, they might not be sure whether it should be an in-text citation or a footnote…
