Has anyone transitioned from ad agency to PM? Any tips would be great!

I’ll say it: you can’t get to Google PM directly from agency. Demand outweighs supply for jobs, so we only really take people who are already PMs from internal transfers, firms with similar cultures (Twitter, Lyft, Facebook), or entrepreneurs.

Your easiest route would probably be agency > Google sales/sales ops > product

Just know that lots of folks internally also want to be PM and some leave Google to boomerang.

Do you have any product experience? Can you transition to PM in your ad agency? I know some agencies have product management and it’s usually easier to transition to a new role in your current company than to get a product job with no experience in a new company.

I just saw NBCU have ad PM roles for those with experience!

I’m a 9th year in a mostly litigation-based practice group at a one-tier partnership firm. My group’s billable hours have been low the last few years, so making partner will be nearly impossible, and a counsel position is not viable long-term in my group. What’s the best option here if partnership is the ultimate goal? Try to get a NEP/counsel position at another firm, which is likely difficult in my market, or offer to take a class cut by a few years?

Hi, I was curious if anyone had any jobs or companies that had a position with a mix of consulting/healthcare/pharmaceutical. Anyone go from SaaS / licensing sales to services (strategy & implementation) sales?

I'm thinking of moving from large cap tech to large cap consultancy firm to help build the resume and round out my experience. I enjoy and do well in licensing, but I'm fairly young in my career (<6 years) and received a great offer to make the move.

Big fan of the org and team I'll be joining as well.

Thanks!!

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)

Flexible on format etc; here’s what I’m thinking:

- we have a “Fishbowl Live event” where we (practicing PMs) can discuss what we have seen work / not work/ brainstorm solutions for someone with a specific problem.

The idea is to provide multiple peer perspectives, and hopefully something useful
